What makes tocotrienols different from the tocopherols found in most Vitamin E supplements?Updated 19 days ago

Structurally, tocotrienols have an unsaturated side chain that allows them to move through cell membranes more rapidly and distribute into tissues — particularly brain and liver — more efficiently than tocopherols. This structural difference translates into meaningful functional differences. 

Alpha-tocopherol, the dominant form in most supplements, functions primarily as an antioxidant. Tocotrienols do that too, but they also demonstrate activity that tocopherols don't — including support for healthy cholesterol synthesis pathways, neuroprotective mechanisms, and anti-inflammatory signaling. The delta and gamma tocotrienol forms, which are the primary actives in DeltaGold®, are where the most robust research on these extended benefits is concentrated. 

There's also an important interaction to be aware of: high-dose alpha-tocopherol supplementation can actually compete with tocotrienol absorption and blunt their activity. DAKE intentionally excludes alpha-tocopherol for this reason — delivering tocotrienols without the interference.
