I've seen other supplements use MK-7 as their K2 source. Why MK-4 in DAKE?Updated 19 days ago
MK-7 is popular in the supplement industry primarily because it has a long half-life in circulation — it stays in the bloodstream for days, which allows for lower doses on a label. That sounds like an advantage, but the research picture is more nuanced.
MK-4 is the form the body naturally produces and accumulates in bone, brain, and arterial tissue. It's the biologically active form in those specific target tissues, and clinical studies on bone density and cardiovascular endpoints have used MK-4 at meaningful doses — typically 1,500 mcg and above. The 1,000 mcg of MK-4 in DAKE is formulated in MCT oil, which significantly enhances its absorption, bringing real-world tissue delivery closer to those studied levels.
MK-7 has its own research base, but MK-4 in MCT oil at a clinically relevant dose is the more defensible choice for a formula focused on bone and cardiovascular outcomes.
